Educational bridging solutions

Our goal at Study Group is to empower international students to thrive at top universities worldwide. We offer academically rigorous programmes and degrees in collaboration with our partner universities, building the skills and knowledge of talented students so they can succeed in their chosen university degree.

International Study Centres

We operate International Study Centres in partnership with universities, preparing talented international students from diverse backgrounds for degree study.

At our International Study Centres, we help students thrive in a new academic and cultural environment. Through tailored language and academic literacy, students gain the confidence to succeed in their degree programme. For the 2023-24 academic year, across our International Study Centres and Colleges, 88% of students who completed their studies were eligible to progress to their desired degree programmes.

Our programmes

Our programmes are delivered at the International Study Centres of our partner universities and adhere to the standards of the independent bodies, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, and Quality and Qualifications Ireland. The pathway programmes are carefully designed to bridge the academic and English language skills gap international students may face before studying at university.

Pathway programmes help:

  • Improve language skills: Intensive language support to help improve academic English skills
  • Offer cultural support: Adjusting and settling into a new culture – a gentle introduction to living and studying abroad to enable successful further studies
  • Introduce students to the education system and expectations: Students will be introduced to the academic standards, teaching methods and assessment styles in the country of their studies – ensuring a seamless transition to the partner university when ready
  • Improve confidence: Students gain confidence in their academic and literacy skills so they feel well prepared before moving on to their university studies
  • Offer personalised support and guidance: With small class sizes, progression coaches and accessible tutors, students get the support they need before beginning their degree programme
  • Improve career prospects: Support provided and skills developed during pathway programmes can give students an edge when applying for graduate roles after their degree.

There are various options to choose from depending on the level of study required and subject preference. The successful completion of our programmes enables students to progress to their chosen degree at your university providing they reach the entry requirements set out by each articulation partner.

Our University Preparation Programme is a part-time course available to students aged 14-17. Delivered online or blended with digital learning, the programme has been designed by international educators to ensure students have the best teaching and resources available to them in order to succeed at university.

The programme is studied alongside students’ final years of high school and provides personal support, including academic and English language development, to prepare students for their programme or degree study at top universities in the UK and US.

With our International Foundation Year programme, students build the skills and confidence to succeed at university. The programme embeds English language tuition into subject-specific programmes, ensuring students have the academic ability and skills to succeed in their studies at university while also navigating day-to-day life in an English-speaking country. This ensures international students are adequately prepared to meet the clear requirements, which we work on with our university partners, of the course they want to progress to. The successful completion of this foundation programme, achieving the required grades, allows students to progress to the first year of their chosen undergraduate degree.

For the 2023-24 academic year, 85% of our students studying the International Foundation Year progressed to their undergraduate degree of choice.

The International Year One* programme offers students a tailored learning experience with greater academic and English language support compared to standard university entry. It is an excellent choice for international students who are ready to start their undergraduate degree but need some additional support adapting to a new style of study, thus creating a stepping stone to success at university.

For the 2023-24 academic year, 93% of students who studied the International Year One progressed to their degree of choice.

Upon successful completion of the International Year One programme, students will transition smoothly into the second year of their undergraduate study and remain on track to graduate in three years at the same time as their university peers.

*Known as International Year Two at our Scottish International Study Centres. By studying the programme, students progress to the third year of a four-year undergraduate degree at the University (some exceptions apply), meaning they’ll study the final two years of their degree at the University.

The Pre-Masters Programme is a university preparation programme aimed at students who hold an undergraduate degree or, in some cases, a diploma, from a university in another country. The programme will help them develop high-level academic English language, study skills and specific subject knowledge before they progress to a Master’s degree at their chosen university.

For the 2023-24 academic year, 91% of students who completed the Pre-Master Programme were eligible to progress to their chosen postgraduate programme.

If students meet the academic entry requirements for our programmes but need to further enhance their language skills, they can join our English Language Preparation programme delivered fully online.

Depending on their current ability and the level required for their chosen academic programme at the International Study Centre, they will study a 16, 10 or 6-week English language programme. The programme is taught in a dynamic online classroom with international students from all around the world, studying at a range of our International Study Centres.

Our innovative learning platform combines interactive tasks, live sessions, and self-paced activities. Highly experienced tutors guide students to study effectively and confidently from home.
