Unlocking success: international students excel across the board in Study Group programmes
When choosing to study abroad, international students look for a clear path to academic success, personal growth and future employability. We are proud to say that our latest data highlights Study Group’s commitment to enabling students to achieve these goals.
For the 2023-24 academic year, across our UK and Ireland international study centres and digital learning programmes, our data shows that 88% of students who completed their studies were eligible to progress to their desired degree programmes.
This reinforces our purpose to enable global education and deliver positive academic outcomes for both our students and our partners. These results reflect the dedication of our academic and student experience staff, and the quality of the teaching and support provided to students. Our students in turn go on to universities that benefit from a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, as well as a high standard of preparatory education.
Pathway programmes – a cornerstone of international academic achievement
International Year One (IY1) programmes are designed to enable students to progress into the second year of university study. This year, 93% of students who completed their studies with us were eligible to progress to their choice of degree course, an increase from the previous year.
Our Pre-Masters Programmes deliver support and advanced preparation for students seeking postgraduate qualifications that boost employability and career prospects. In 2023-24, 91% of students who completed their studies were eligible to progress to the postgraduate programme of their choice.
For international students requiring support with academic literacy, the International Foundation Year programme provides a solid foundation for academic achievement. By embedding English language tuition into subject-specific programmes, we ensure students are adequately prepared to meet all requirements of the course they progress on to. 85% of our students who completed their foundation studies with Study Group were eligible to progress to their degree programmes of choice.
Progression to world-class universities
This academic year’s data shows an equally positive outcome for our students aiming to progress to study in some of the highest-ranked universities in the UK: 88% of these students were offered progression to universities that are members of the prestigious Russell Group of highly ranked research-intensive universities. The success rate is even higher among pre-master’s students, where 95% were offered progression to Russell Group University partners.
Enabling global ambitions
International students are an integral part of the UK and Ireland’s educational ecosystems. Beyond their academic contributions, they bring unique perspectives, cultural diversity and global experiences that enrich the learning environment for all. This diversity fosters greater intercultural understanding, preparing both domestic and international students for success in an increasingly globalised world.
Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon, Provost and Chief Academic Officer said “At a time when global mobility and education face challenges, these outcomes demonstrate the transformative power of international education. Students from around the world are not only fulfilling their potential but are also enriching the educational experience for everyone, making the UK and Ireland hubs of innovation, learning and global connection. Our collaboration with university partners ensures that international students continue to thrive, contributing to dynamic campuses and building bridges across cultures.”
