11 of Study Group’s university partners feature in the newly released Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023. The rankings assess universities against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, on their research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

Our partners the University of Auckland, University of Strathclyde, University of Sheffield, University of Surrey, University of Sussex, Cardiff University, University of Aberdeen and Durham University all feature among the world’s top 100.

Now in its fifth year, the rankings of nearly 1,600 universities from 112 countries are informed by comprehensive research conducted by Times Higher Education and are the only global performance table that assess universities against the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Prospective international students are global citizens, and we have seen that they increasingly seek to understand how universities integrate sustainability when they consider their university plans.

Dr Mark Cunnington, Study Group’s Managing Director of University Partnerships, UK & Ireland, says: “Congratulations to all our university partners recognised in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

“By strengthening global collaboration, and advancing access to the knowledge, skills and innovation needed to tackle our biggest environmental and social challenges, international education is integral to creating a more sustainable future. We are proud to support thousands of international students to access the research, innovation and education at leading universities around world.”

Duncan Ross, Chief Data Officer at Times Higher Education added,

“The Impact Rankings are focused on supporting the diversity of university missions and contexts. These individual rankings are really important – showing excellence and good practice in areas of specific focus for each institution, from helping to deliver food security, providing decent work, contributing to economic growth and supporting climate action. These are the areas where education can make a vital difference to lives and communities across the world.”
